Care guide
Good things deserve a little attention. With these tips your DWAM stays beautiful for years, walk after walk. Find your material below.
Leather: collars, leashes, harnesses and horse halters
- Daily: wipe off dust and dirt with a soft, dry cloth.
- Every now and then: use a slightly damp cloth with a little mild soap, such as saddle soap. Wipe gently, finish with a clean cloth and let it air-dry, out of the sun and away from the radiator.
- Keep it supple: treat the leather with a leather conditioner every few months, or sooner if it feels dry. This helps prevent cracks. You can find the Famaco Paris Cream Polish in our webshop.
- Protect against wet and mud: after conditioning, spray the leather with the Famaco waterproof spray. Spray from 30 cm in a well-ventilated room, and repeat after a few days of serious outdoor use.
- Got wet? Pat it dry with a towel and let it dry slowly. So no hair dryer and not on the radiator.
- Storage: in a cool, dry place, out of bright sunlight.
- Best avoided: perfume, alcohol or insect spray on the leather.
Rope leashes and lead ropes
- Washing: by hand only, not in the washing machine. Fill a basin with lukewarm water and a little mild detergent or baby shampoo.
- Only submerge the rope. Keep the leather piece out of the water or protect it with a plastic bag.
- Clean gently, rinse well, pat dry with a towel and let it air-dry, out of the sun and away from heat sources.
- Only use it again once it is completely dry.
Fabric: beds, cushions and beanies
- Machine wash at 30°C with similar colours.
- Do not tumble dry.
Beaded bracelets and necklaces
- Clean them gently with a soft cloth. If needed, use a little lukewarm water and mild soap, but never soak them.
Bowls and cookie tins
- Porcelain bowls: dishwasher safe.
- Love Pets bowls: the stainless steel inner bowl is removable and dishwasher safe.
- Cookie tin: hand wash only, not dishwasher safe.
A quick check every walk
Check regularly whether your collar, leash or harness is still in top shape, especially if your dog likes to chew. Spot wear or damage on a buckle, seam or snap hook? Then replace it, for your dog's safety.
